Final Figures

Money Laundering
Posted: August 9, 2012

Final figures are in and Kenny Benny 2012 raised $5900! All but a few hundred will distributed to multiple charities/non-profits in Kenny’s name. The balance will remain to help with start-up expenses next year. I will announce the recipients at a later date but all donations will go out before Christmas.

Totals were down from last year and this is a direct reflection of our attendance numbers. With the new location and the later date, we lost about 125 people off our average. We still had over 300 BBQ participants and 144 golfers so it was still a fantastic turnout. I couldn’t be happier and more proud of all the contributors, volunteers and sponsors that helped put this event together. Next year’s event will be tentatively scheduled for July 12th and 13th. This could change but we’re trying to get closer to the dates that we’ve held the event in years past as to not compete with other events that happen in later July.

A big thank you goes out to The Lake County Historical Society and their staff for providing such an amazing venue that was absolutely perfect for the bands, campers, parking, raffle, etc… Anybody that was there will surely tell those that weren’t how great this property was and how perfect it was for this kind of function. Please feel free to reach out to them if you would be interested in hosting any sort of event there. They have already asked us back for next year’s event. As a favor to them I am attaching a few documents to this email with info on a corn hole and bbq cook-off that they are hosting this Saturday. They will have beer there so this should catch the attention of some…ok, most of you. This is a fund raiser so please give it some consideration if you don’t have any plans.

Thanks again to all of you and we hope to see you next July!

BBQ

Another big change this year will be that the BBQ will be held at the Lake County Historical Society. The address is 415 Riverside Drive, Painesville TWP, 44077. For those not familiar with the area it is just two drives north of Riverside High School. It is a private property on over eight acres with plenty of parking and room to set up tents. Aside from the location, Kenny Benny will be run and organized the same as it has been in years past with a focus remembering Kenny while raising money for local charities and enjoying great food, live music, awesome auction prizes and a cash raffle. Oh, and 30 plus kegs of ice cold beer. The cost of the BBQ will again be $30/person the day of or $25/person if paid by July 1st. If you pay this year by July 1st, you will automatically be entered in to a raffle for a $500 cash prize to be announced and paid out at the BBQ. We will announce this price shortly after dinner starts being served. You must be there to collect and only those pre-paid will be in the raffle.

We are excited to announce that we will have two bands performing this year. The Shizz and Sumrada will be playing all day and night and they will be joined by special guest Dave Miller. If we bug them enough, maybe we can get them to jam some River Junction tunes and perhaps a cover of Gin and Juice.

Included in the costs of the BBQ and golf will be donation’s to multiple charities in memory of Kenny. The Lake County Historical Society and the Bill Gibson Memorial Fund will be the primary recipients this year with a few smaller donations being made to other local charities. This will be an adult only event so try to book a babysitter soon. If anybody would like to donate their time, we can use some help on a variety of tasks so email Dan Staebler if you’re available.

Please remember that there is plenty of room to pitch a tent on the property and we invite you to do so. Please don’t drink and drive! Forward this email on to anyone that might be interested in attending or feel free to print and snail mail or pass it on to anybody.

Golf Outing

Golfball Spinning
Posted: May 5, 2012

The golf outing will be held at Lost Nation Golf Course in Willoughby off of Lost Nation Rd with a t-time of 8:00 am sharp. We have made some progressive changes to the registration process that are bound to bother some of you but make those that organize the event more efficient and let them enjoy the festivities a little more. This year in order to be guaranteed your groups spot, payment for your foursome must be paid by Sunday July first. If your group is not paid by then, we will accept new groups on a first pay first serve basis. Payment must be paid in full in the amount of $300. Partial payments will not be accepted. Please have the captain of your team email Dylan Dacar if you have any questions about your teams reserved spot. All the reserved spots from years past will be held until July 1st. You should know who you are and if you don’t, please Email Dylan Dacar to confirm. I would like to stress that you only email Dylan per his request. There is currently a waiting list to get in on the golf so if you don’t pay for your foursome by July 1st, I can’t guarantee that spot will be available come July 20th. We are well aware that not everyone will be happy about these changes but we ask that you please respect the changes and not forget that this event is sold out every year based on reservations but some groups don’t show up. This new policy should prevent this from happening and also speed up the check in process.

We will be having a shotgun start again this year. The cost of the four-man scramble will be $75 per person, which includes 18 holes, cart, prizes, T-shirt, misc giveaways, beer, pop, skins, lunch and a steak or chicken dinner at Toths Place immediately following the award announcements and prize giveaways. There will be a 50/50 raffle again this year at the golf course. Oh and that pesky little yellow ball will be making another cameo.
